Hello and Welcome to TPSC Forums. Before you get started, we need to get a few things out of the way:
TPSC Forums despises censorship and promotes complete freedom of expression.
As long as you follow the rules below, you should be able to discuss anything you like. If you feel that any mod or admin is abusing their power to censor your posts, please report to firstname.lastname@example.org with relevant details. While we respect everyone's right to privacy, transparency and accountability are quintessential to building a great, trustworthy community.
However, violating the rules on a consistent basis, impersonating staff, misusing the above email reporting service or attacking other users can result in significant repercussions. So if you intend on causing trouble, just remember that we are fully equipped and ready to impose permanent bans.
You are a part of the community
While we will try our best to make TPSC Forums the most amazing place in the world, that is going to be impossible without your help. Be a responsible member of the community and try your best to make these forums a better place. If something does not seem right, feel free to contact an admin or moderator.
The complete staff list and relevant contact information is available here: https://forum.thepcsecuritychannel.com/t/current-staff-list/118/1
Designing rules is always a difficult task. Too many can choke discussion and too few can derail it and take it astray. We have tried our best to find the right balance, but if you have any queries or suggestions feel free to reply to this topic. It may be updated as necessary. However, this post in its current state is what you need to go by:
No Piracy. Period.
Anyone who has tried coding the simplest of computer programs knows how much time and effort it takes to create even a half decent application. If you can't afford a payware program, use a free or open source alternative. Respect developers and avoid piracy. You are not permitted post any illegal keys, cracks, hacks etc. here.
NSFW Content is Prohibited
This website is meant for people of all ages. Adult content, porn etc. is strictly off limits. As you might have guessed, at TPSC, we like to keep it clean.
Avoid Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem refers to an argument or reaction directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. Personal targeting is a rather poor way of making your point. It is okay to disagree and to have a sensible argument, in fact that is what forums are all about. However, it is important to base your claims on evidence, and to stick to the point rather than drifting off to childish churling.
Right way: "I disagree about Kaspersky being poor against ransomware. Here is a video test conducted against serveral recent ransomware samples. Even when the product did not have the right signatures, the malware was blocked by behavioral components. Here are some other sources on the topic. (links or screenshots)"
Wrong way: "You are not as smart as you think. You are not an expert, stop speaking non-sense about things that you don't understand."
Stay away from abusive language
While slight mentions of a swear word here and there won't get you into trouble, don't do it excessively or in an offensive manner. As mentioned earlier, we like to keep things clean.
The forums are a public space and must be used responsibly. Don't make duplicate posts, avoid excessive use of smileys, try to post in the right categories and stay on topic. Be polite and courteous while replying. This place is only going to be as awesome as you make it. As with computers: Garbage in, Garbage out.
Unwanted Advertising is not welcome
Feel free to share your own content or work, but only where it is relevant. Don't advertise for commercial purposes or copy-paste your self-promotion material in multiple places. No one wants to see an annoying salesperson here.
Don't violate Copyright
It is okay to link to other websites but if you are uploading something specifically to the forums, make sure it is your original content. Stay away from trouble and help us do the same.
Once you take all this information into consideration, you are ready to take part in the discussion and share your knowledge and ideas. Oh, and remember not to feed the trolls; cause if you feed them, they will grow fat and you know, there are a lot of health issues that might put their lives to risk. So instead, just report them to an admin or moderator.
Remember to be rational, promote harmony, and make your voice heard!
